Keynote speakers at the event were members of the Political club against domestic violence, MPs Zorica Kovačević, Nada Drobnjak and the UN Resident Coordinator, Rastislav Vrbensky as well as the authors of the publication. The authors, supported by “Dimitrije Dika Marsenić”, are Slavica Bajić from the Secretariat for Legislation and Maja Raičević from the NGO Center for women’s rights.
This publication was created with the aim to raise the public awareness on the issue of domestic violence, rights of the victims of violence and the duties of the country in preventing and suppressing violence against women and domestic violence.
The Political club is made of female members of the Montenegrin Parliament, i.e. members of the Montenegrin parliamentary political parties. In the scope of its work, the political club also co-operates closely with experts and NGOs.
UN Resident Coordinator, Rastislav Vrbensky emphasized the statistical data on violence in Montenegro and expressed UN’s support to the future endavours of the Political Club. The meeting was also used to emphasize the importance of awareness-raising within the citizens, from the very issue of violence, up to the process of reporting a case and the institutional support to victims of violence.
he publication „My rights“ was financed by the Political club itself and one of its next steps is proper promotion of the publication and awareness-raising throughout Montenegro. One of the first ways of doing that will be distributing the publication with the daily newspaper. You can find the electronic version of the publication here.
